Dr. Harris and the experienced staff at The Migraine Headache Relief Center of PA have always been committed to integrating the latest advances in dentistry into their practice. Several years ago, this continuing commitment to serve patients with the best possible dental care led to a remarkable discovery.
Dr. Harris Notices a Trend -- Patients are in Pain
A few years back Dr. Harris began research on the latest technical advancements and therapies for pain relief in dentistry because so many of his patients were complaining of pain symptoms in the head, neck and jaw. With so many of his own dental patients also complaining of headaches and migraines, the mounting evidence suggested that dental force imbalances were likely culprits and that it was highly likely that the dental forces causing pain were directly linked to each other in some way. Dr. Harris really wanted to see how both dentistry and the medical community at large were diagnosing and treating such conditions. More importantly, though, he wanted to know if other dentists and physicians were also beginning to see the link between dental forces such as bite force and painful symptoms associated with headache, migraine, TMD, head and neck pain, etc. What he discovered next would lay the foundation for The Migraine Headache Relief Center of PA, and pave the way for many long time pain sufferers to finding the enduring relief they were seeking.
Dr. Harris Begins Exploring Chronic Pain Conditions
However, Dr. Harris continued his research and learned of a pioneering dentist who was already treating patients for headache and migraine symptoms. This dentist was having real success, patients were getting long-term pain relief, and the treatments were not drug-based at all. Dr. Harris learned that this dentist himself had been researching the link between dental-related forces and various types of pain, and had designed a treatment regimen to eliminate the root causes of the pain. This dentist had actually partnered with a neurophysiologist — one who had invented the cold laser technology that many physicians use for other purposes today — and together they patented a protocol for helping patients who have been suffering for years with headache and migraine.
The neurophysiologist that originally invented the cold laser did so to help treat athletes after an injury to help get them back on the field faster. Cold laser was useful because it promoted fast healing to the muscles and ligaments, and helped to eliminate scar tissues. In fact, cold laser and several other technologies were also found to be useful in treating the root causes of headache and migraine, TMD/TMJ and jaw joint discomfort, head and neck pain with chronic tension, face pain, and even Tinnitus. Dr. Harris knew this was a true breakthrough, and that needles and narcotics were failing where this technology was succeeding.
We also have the technology of cutting-edge dentistry to digitally analyze the bite force imbalance of the teeth very precisely. This allows us to adjust bite forces gradually over time so patients can regain harmony and balance to the head and neck muscles, teeth, nerves, jaw, etc. Together, these FDA-cleared technologies have proven that the most successful long-term results to becoming pain free happen when the teeth, muscles, nerves and joints all work together in harmony.
Dr. Harris's Research Leads to the Founding of MHRPA
Conditions such as headaches, migraines, TMJ and jaw joint pain, pain in the face, head and neck, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), and more are now being treated with cutting edge dental techniques and the use of a cold laser at The Migraine Headache Relief Center of PA.
