The fact that she had seen chiropractors and other specialists that couldn’t help her only underscores the truth about this type of pain – few can diagnose neuromuscular force problems, and those who cannot diagnose it properly cannot successfully treat it, either.
Patient Transcript:
I had come up here earlier this year for my regular teeth cleaning, and after my appointment Dr. Harris, you know, comes in to check everything and he said to me, “Would you be interested in possibly seeing a specialist because your bite is so off [balance] now. I looked at him and said, “Gee, I wonder if that’s why I’m having such horrible neck pain.” He looked at me, because I’d never brought this up before, and said, Ï want to talk to you after we finish your cleaning.”
So, we talked about it and he explained the whole connection, and the new techniques he was using, how long he had been researching it. I had the tests done to see how far everything was off, and it was really unbelievable. And in addition, at least three years ago, right below my collarbone, or right on top of my collarbone, I was getting like these little puffy little sacks… [they] would come up below my neck and they’d hurt a lot. I’d actually cone to the doctor to ask about them.
I had an MRI done. It was inconclusive. She had another patient that had this done – didn’t know what it was, but it didn’t seem to… they couldn’t find what it was. So I mentioned this to them also, and it turns out that’s related to the whole jaw, neck… your muscles trying to compensate for how screwed up everything else is. That, fortunately, has also been relieved; not only the pain, but it was really hideous looking. But the neck pain was so bad I could hardly put my head on a the pillow [in my bed]. I couldn’t have anyone touch or massage me [because] it hurt so bad. A couple of years before when it wasn’t AS bad, I had gone to see a chiropractor who, you know, puts a little heat on and then twists your neck – which is so frightening – and I never really got relief from that.
After the first appointment [with Dr. Harris at MHRPA] I actually could feel like I had a neck again, because I think that through all the years that my whole neck was condensing – I couldn’t really lift up my head.
People now comment on how great my posture looks, and how great I look in general because I’m not in pain. It’s just been the most amazing experience; [one] which I’d never heard of before. No one I talked to – who were wondering why I was driving to Philadelphia from Delaware to see a dentist all the time – could believe, or had heard of this.
So, I’m really thrilled that I had it done, and I’m happy to share this information with you, and I hope and know that it would also help you.”
